Splendid Monet “Water Lillies”

This is one of Claude Monet’s eye-catching and impressive “Water lilies” oils. It is believed to be authentic by many who see it. Supporting the owner’s claim to its authenticity is Certificate of Authenticity verso issued by Sofia Imber of the Caracas Museum of Contempory Art. There is also a certificate attached verso from the Mary and Leigh Block collection (founders of Chicago’s Block Museum of Contemporary Art). Also verso is a Chenue Gallery certificate and a Duran-Ruel gallery certificate, both identifying it as a painting by Claude Monet. They likely handled its sale at some point in the past. Partial ownership with full possession is available – there is a minority investor available to participate in the purchase if the buyer will agree to have the painting forensically analyzed and submitted for auction when Sotheby’s and Christies accept forensics in lieu of the perfect provenances they recently came to require.
