“Manolete” by Pablo Picasso
On this occasion we have Picasso’s very impressive old painting of the famous matador, Manolete. It is thought to have been done in 1934 after Picasso visited Spain and became enamored of bullfights and matadors. This canvas is very old and is a jewel in its original state. It hung for many years in a great Caracas stately house and was periodically loaned to the Caracas Museum of Contemporary Art for shows. It is magnificently framed. There is a significant sales receipt attached verso from the Galerie Wunsche. Its provenance prior to Galerie Wunsche is unknown. This painting is believed to be authentic by many who see it. Partial ownership with full possession is available – there is a minority investor available to participate in the purchase if the buyer will agree to have the painting forensically analyzed and submitted for auction when Sotheby’s and Christies begin accepting forensics evidence as proof of authenticity.
